I am a lover of music that has always enjoyed sharing it with others. I have been involved in musical activities all through since grade school. I graduated with a Master of Music Arts with a specialty in teaching from Texas Woman's University so I could better share my love of music. I have also been in one choir or another over the years. I sang with the Denton Community Chorus, Nairobi Concert Choir and had the privilege of performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City with the Texas Woman's University Concert Choir. Read More

Since most of the students I teach are members of a band program, I make sure that most of my lessons are based on what is being learned at school. Planning an individual practice schedule is imperative for their success but at the same time make it enjoyable so the student will want to practice. Constant acknowledgement of their progress each lesson the student more eager to learn. In 2011, I graduated college from Southwestern Assemblies of God University, while I was there I traveled the world playing anything from jazz to rock. I studied with legendary drummer Tim Pope, the drummer for Ray Charles. After school, I started playing and teaching music professionally in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I have had the opportunity to play with many great artists, these artists include Blues Legend Lance Lopez of Super Sonic Blues Machine, Kayla Reeves singer from Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Jim Suhler the guitarist for George Thorogood, 5 time Grammy winner Tim Alexander from Asleep at the Wheel, Grammy winning trumpet player Phil Driscoll and last but not least guitar Legend Andy Timmons from Danger Danger and Pawn Kings. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a method book in order to introduce finger numbers and good technique. We build more and more skills as time progresses. Depending on the student, we may depart from the method book and learn more substantial songs; I'm very good with adapting to the skill levels and strengths of each student. With older students, since they generally have a better feel for what songs/composers they like, I will give them more freedom to choose their own songs and work with them from there. Read More

I have been involved in music for as long as I can remember, singing in church choirs and leading contemporary worship.  I graduated from McMurry University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance in 2004.  Having decided that performing was not my #1 passion I then pursued a Masters of Music degree, specializing in Music Therapy, from Colorado State Univeristy.  I have been a professional music therapist for the past 9 years, working with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities as well as mental health populations.
