I am a passionate and very relatable teacher who absolutely loves sharing my love for music with my students as I endeavor to help them become skilled and engaged musicians themselves. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2010. I have had the opportunity to perform all over the world, including 6 countries in Europe, Taiwan, and Russia. I currently sing with a number of professional choral ensembles in the DFW area, including The Verdigris Ensemble and the Texas Voices.
My teaching experience began when I completed my degree in Music Education 10 years ago. Since that time I have been teaching private lessons to students of all ages. As a teacher, I believe it is my job to meet my students where they are in their development, and prescribe exercises, repertoire, and information that will help the student with each of their individual needs and goals. I use classical technique as a foundation for healthy singing, but absolutely love performing and teaching many other genres of music. I want to help my students to be engaged, knowledgable, passionate, and able to healthily sing many different styles of music, depending on what they are most interested in. I am very relatable, goofy, and always make lessons both interesting and engaging.
I create my own custom lesson plans based on the needs and goals of each student. Usually, when a student first comes to my studio I listen to them sing a series of exercises and then a song so that I can get a good idea of where they are in their vocal development. I usually begin teaching fundamentals of breath and posture and resonant space in the first few lessons, but then build upon that with specific exercises and repertoire that fits each student's needs. I personally pursue a very high level of excellence and ask that my students do as well, but I motivate my students using encouragement and support to inspire them to achieve.
I am very passionate about tailoring each lesson and even the way I approach each student to that student's skill level as well as personality. I am invested in my students' lives and endeavor to make sure that my studio is a place where they feel understood, appreciated, and safe. I allow students to have an active role in selecting their own repertoire so that they find pieces they really adore. I am warm, funny, intelligent, and my love for music and my students infuses everything I do as a teacher.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
