My teaching experience began when I was in college. I taught trombone and euphonium private lessons for several years in the school district that I attended when I was a student. Additionally, I also have done All State Masterclasses for the TMEA trombone etudes. Encouraging regular practice, building the life-long skill of discipline, and hard work are key skills that I enjoy getting to emphasize to my students, as it has a tendency to build student progression and ultimately gain a passion for learning the instrument. Once the student has begun to learn how to sightread and grasp the fundamental elements, I begin to introduce a repertoire suitable for the student's performance. For students who are a little bit older and have a little bit more experience I ask them what they would like to learn. I am a lover of music that has always enjoyed sharing it with others. I have been involved in musical activities all through since grade school. I graduated with a Master of Music Arts with a specialty in teaching from Texas Woman's University so I could better share my love of music. I have also been in one choir or another over the years. The first half is typically practicing pentatonic scales and basic finger exercises and maybe some rhythm drills before moving onto simplified versions of famous classic songs.
