I am a huge optimist when it comes to my teaching style. As I cater to each student, we will always celebrate the small wins! Singing is not a linear process but rather a journey that takes time and as long as you try, I will be right by your side rooting for you consistently to be the best you that you can be! In the journey of opening and discovering the voice, I remind students of the physical and mental advantages they can use in order for clear tones and healthy technique! Read More

Generally, I like to discuss what kind of music the students are interested in studying first. Then, after vocalizing and assessing the voice, I'll start the students with English art songs or 24 Italian Songs Arias, or some classic music theater repertoire. From there, the student and I will assess what best fits the student's interest. Read More

For my first class with my students, I typically would get to know them in terms of their goals, experience as a singer, and get to know where they are in their pursuit of those goals they set for themselves. After which, I would do warm-up exercises, vowel, and consonant work, and establish fundamentals of vocal techniques for the desired genre. Once the student feels more comfortable with their voice, I would suggest an introductory repertoire (usually an Art Song) according to their age, level, voice type, and their personality. Read More

I began my teaching career as a private lesson teacher in 2000. Then I advanced into the private schools from grades k-12 from 2001-2003. During this time I taught children that had special needs. They became one of my best students. I taught in public schools as well in 2008. I did private lessons for six years in between from 2003-09. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my high school, as I began teaching private lessons part time 7 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 3 years since graduating college. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. My teaching experience dates back to when I was volunteering at my church around five years ago at their youth outreach program. This led to another passion teacher others the art of vocal performance. Since then, I have consistently taught students of various ages and diverse backgrounds not only in Illinois but in Georgia, LA and Texas. I love to make my lessons fun and exciting while making sure my students learn all they need to know when comes to live vocal performance. Read More

I encourage regular lesson attendance and practice at home. Consistency is key when learning and developing a new skill set especially when concerning younger students. I feel that the balance of establishing a strong technical foundation and fostering a love for music is fundamental in fostering passion and enthusiasm for new students. I try and find out what the student is interested in and tailor each lesson to their specific needs. Read More
