I teach students to read music and achieve excellence, and learn to play contemporary music using chord sheets, depending on the goals and preference of the student while stressing the importance of training the ear, which is where the confidence lies in the ability to play. Using methods that enables musicians to play what they actually conceive or hear rather than bore their listeners with licks and notes that work off a page. I have done a small amount of touring with a small jazz ensemble but I'm not gigging currently, but being versatile , experienced and having formal training help make learning music a pleasure and joyful experience easy, stress free and fun, and, that is especially what beginning and aspiring students need.
Some of the musical styles I regularly teach: Rock, Hard Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Soul, R&B, Classical.
I was a music education major at Roosevelt Univ. and have personal experience teaching all ages from grammar school to entry level college students.I have taught in private studios and traveled to students' homes. I teach various instruments from beginners to various levels of accomplishment and when a student has that bright light moment when something clicks, it's truly a pleasure moment.
I teach more than just an instrument,I teach music. This helps a student move forward and discover things on their own, such as how to play what they create in their head and how to get that to their instrument which is what communicates to an audience.
I use many ideas from various sources to combine with my instruction methods; All with a gradient level in mind rising to a higher plateau of musical knowledge and understanding. I combine theory with practical applications of each concept being taught. Music theory, practical exercises, along with ear training appropriate to the level or needs of a student. I give students songs to learn that emphasizes concepts being taught. They have an option to select their own songs, if it's not outside their level of playing.
I try to give each student an idea whats coming next, every few lessons or so, while practicing what their on currently. This idea is not for every student so it is a selective process I use with the brightest ones, or fast learners and good practicers. When I see a student really start to play well I gain confidence in my teaching style...but when needed I can dial it back a notch or two. Most students are very bright and when they want to learn themselves and not just because parents put them here, well you can tell, but a good teacher can interest the student into learning why they are here.
My instructor Bob is doing a very good job with my lessons. I am an older/Beginner level drummer and Bob has been a wealth of information both during the lesson and the resources he shares with me in between lessons. He picks up my drumming shortcomings very quickly and has great insight into how to improve in those areas. Unfortunately, due to the virus shutdown, we have not had a chance to meet in person, so I look forward to a one on one lesson in the near future.
As a beginner,I had no knowledge of music.Bob took the extra time to get me started on my guitar journey. He has the knowledge and expertise to compliment his teaching skills.Bob made my my learning experience enjoyable.
Lauryn's guitar class is very interesting. Her teacher is teaching her new sounds and songs. She likes her class.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
OkAre you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
