I first began teaching in 2012, when I gave volunteer drum lessons. Shortly after that, I began giving piano and voice lessons both in schools and one-on-one. Currently, when I'm not teaching private lessons, I work part-time as a traveling pre-school music teacher, where I teach preschoolers music with my guitar, picture books, and even puppets! I am comfortable teaching students of all ages but prefer young children, as they can benefit the most from developing a passion for their instrument, which can lead to a lifelong pursuit of music. From all my years of teaching, I have developed useful skills in lesson planning along with creating musical activities and games. I teach people all over the world, which has helped me develop my skills in using Zoom, Livestreaming, and tutorial development. In addition, my teaching style is student-centered and encourages student participation. My students are priority and I practice in my lessons and consider mental health, good habits, positive reinforcement and self-love. Read More

I am a passionate performer and teacher who loves sharing my love for music with students. I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing and Vocal Performance. I continued my training at Manhattan School of Music and received my Master of Music in Voice in 2016. I have been lucky enough to study and perform all over the world, such as Oderzo, Italy, and Belle-Ile, France. Read More

Again, my teaching will stick to the motto of my own voice teacher, "Let me do the thinking for you!" If we work on it in lessons, and the student works on it in practice, the next step is to let go and trust that they've done the work and I will adjust if needed. The most important thing is for the student to feel comfortable and sing with no effort or push! Read More

I find a combination of modern, jazz, and classical music can go a long way in helping students enjoy music and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. My students are encouraged to enter competitions, recitals, and college auditions, as well as composing their own material. This way they can feel good about their progress and stay motivated to continue learning. I am always looking to bring on new students regardless of skill level. Read More

I have been discovering my love for teaching for the last 5 years. I started within my undergrad school. I graduated from Western Carolina University in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance (Classical) as well as a minor in Psychology. I was able to perform my first professional show with Asheville Lyric opera as a chorister in La Traviata in 2012. I trained with multiple professionals through the Crittenden Opera Workshop in Boston and The Torggler Institute in Newport News, VA. Read More

I truly love teaching; there are few pleasures greater than seeing students progress. I encourage them to discover how beautiful and fun music is, and help them to find and develop their own areas of interest and talent. Born in Japan of a mother who started me on classical voice and piano in my early childhood, I went on to play flute and the Japanese koto and shamisen, and to compose and sing my own songs.
