I love teaching and in my 30-years-teaching experience I have had many students of various cultural backgrounds, European, Jewish, American. I am primarily an active performing musician and composer, bandleader and arranger, therefore I can help students of all levels, from very beginner to very advanced. My goal is to give a student enough foundation to have fun playing music and enjoy the sounds. I also teach reading music and music theory. Read More

I am incredibly fortunate to have access to the resources at NYU and to love teaching music more and more every day: I have had practical experience in woodwind, brass, string, voice, and percussion pedagogy, as well as music in early childhood and for students of all abilities. My teachers include Jason Noble (instrumental conducting), Paul Speiser (choral conducting), Kim McCord (childhood/special ed music pedagogy), Ethan Hein (electronic music pedagogy), and Christopher Bush (clarinet performance). I'm well trained in the Suzuki repertoire and philosophies, however I teach a combination of traditional methods and also have the ability to exclude one or the other. For beginners and young children, I teach note reading simultaneously but separately from the applied side of playing. Holding the violin and bow, for example, are very challenging and require time to focus on them individually. Note reading is done on the side and later these aspects merge so that kids are eventually learning new pieces by reading the music directly. Read More

I love tailoring each lesson to each individual student I teach. It is important to me that my students are interested in the material that they are learning. I enjoy helping my students reach their musical goals by selecting repertoires that appeal to them while also helping to address and resolve their technical deficiencies. For my beginning piano students, I typically start with Faber's Piano Adventures. For young singers, I use the Kodaly Method as a way of developing musical skills and teaching musical concepts. I use to talk with my students for a few minutes, because I trying make them relax. Then I make questions above the homework's if they understand or no. If he/she do not understand the homework's I use to help them again. when they are ready to do I am ready to continue the class. I am trying to speak very slow and I have very much patience when I am teaching because one of my teachers said to me; "You need a lot of patience to be teacher". Read More

I have been teaching for over 45 years, mostly in students' homes. I started in the 1970's in my NYC apartment and since moving to Westchester 30 years ago have been going to student's homes. Many of my students have been accepted to colleges as music majors or minors and my students frequently get the highest ratings in solo competitions. School band directors often recommend me as a coach for their most serious students, since school music programs usually do not have the capacity for intensive individual coaching. Read More

I love to have fun teaching and keep things positive and light! Music is supposed to be fun, and it becomes even more fun when you start progressing at the drums, which you will! :) Having patience and keeping focus is key to this success and is the most rewarding. Therefore, I encourage realistic goals for my students so they can keep becoming more and more motivated knowing the progress that they have made. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
