My name is Courtney and I am a recent college graduate of Hofstra University with a Bachelor of Science degree in vocal performance and a minor in musical theater. While my major primarily concentrated on opera, I specialize in classical, musical theater, and pop singing. I've had the opportunity to perform all over the country, at venues such as The Grande Ole Opry, Carnegie Hall, and The Kimmel Center. In addition she had the pleasure of being a vocal/coach at the Amity Music Academy in Woodbridge, CT in which she moved on to the New Haven Academy of the Performing Arts teaching vocals/piano lessons, and she was also the Music Director of the Musical Theater Intensives, while at the New Haven of Performing Arts, I had the pleasure of joining an organization called International Voice Teachers of Mix, in which I am consistently being educated on the voice specifically mix technique . For every student, beginner or advanced, I talk to them about the style of teaching I provide. I first talk to them about the different segments in the voice: lower "ah" segment, chest segment, chest pull-falsetto segment, pure falsetto segment, and upper "ah" segment. I provide different warm ups that work in each of the segments, helping the voice gradually connect them in time. An interesting fact about my particular vocal journey is that because I had never really had formal voice training, I was learning vocal concepts from a scientific and theoretical perspective in the classroom while concurrently learning them in my own body and voice in my own lessons.
