I like to begin the first lesson by recognizing the students strengths by having them show me what they can accomplish on their own. There are specific books that I like to teach out of depending on the skill level so that needs to be addressed during the first lesson. Recognizing and building on strengths to me should come before criticising weaknesses. Those will be addressed as they come along and exercises with scales and etudes will be chosen for those weaknesses, but that does not mean that challenging music needs to be played each and every time so that the student has to struggle for greatness. My teaching style is flexible and fun! I love seeing students learn and develop a passion for music. While it is important to correct errors in order to be able to learn, i think it is equally if not more important to focus on a students accomplishments. Setting realistic goals is also important when working with students. My students need to feel good about their playing and what they have accomplished in order to continue to be willing to work towards their goals. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my when I began high school, as I began teaching private lessons part-time on the side about 8 years ago, at music camps, and have been consistently teaching students in their homes, my home, or over zoom. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points that I like to preach to my younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. As I teach a wide variety of instruments, I can only give a short explanation on each instruments road map, However! My classical strings students will all be started in the Essential Elements book 1. Upon completion of said book, all strings students will then move to the Suzuki books to step from beginner to intermediate strings player. Should the student grow bored of said books, I also provide a plethora of outside material to create fun challenges with more familiar music (pop tunes, video game music, easy arrangements of orchestral works, etc.) if the need arise! I started playing violin at the age of nine through my elementary schools string program. In addition to performing with the Discovery Middle School and Timber Creek High School orchestras, I participated every year in the all-county and all-state orchestras and served as associate concertmaster of the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra. I completed a double major in general music and engineering at Northwestern University in Chicago. I have professional performance experience playing violin in orchestras, as a pit musician for musical theater and for freelance gigs such as weddings. Read More

I teach both the Classical and Suzuki methods. I have students of all ages so it varies which student is learning which method. The best for children is the Suzuki method that is widely used in the USA. Classical methods can be used when I teach young adults and adults. It is pretty flexible though and I sometimes teach younger children the classical method. I like challenges and I often have children and older students that express different tempers. Read More

I Have developed a fundamentals packet for the stringed instruments (Violin, Viola, Cello) which can be utilized by beginners and advanced students alike. Suzuki is the primary method book I utilize as it attacks many of the difficulties beginners face head on in early editions and it offers a rather streamlined process to position work. The Suzuki books also come with piano accompaniment books to help prepare students for solo and even chamber playing as collaborating with other musicians is a vital step in their professional development.
