My teaching style is overall fairly laid back. I let my students set the pace, but I also expect them to be passionate, curious, and hard-working. I will first understand what direction the student wants to go musically, whether it be playing chords and singing or being entirely a solo guitarist. From there we can understand what style they want to be playing as I would encourage having a basic understanding of all musical styles. I spend a lot of class time teaching students how to practice correctly so that when they are practicing alone they will know what to do to make their time productive. I love seeing the pride and self confidence that a student develops from mastering a particularly difficult exercise.
