Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I use methods from the Berkeley School of Music and years of studying with private teachers. I will begin with the essentials of learning guitar, learn how to sit and hold the guitar, tune the guitar and play your first melodies! Learn how to read guitar tablature. learning to play single notes, beginner guitar chords, 4 essential strumming patterns, changing chords etc. After the basics are mastered we will move through playing lead guitar to improvising with C-A-G-E-D theory and playing advanced lead guitar licks. In teaching my students, I prefer to teach them to "play by ear", because when they learn chords and songs, they are usually able to play a snog by memory after hearing it a time or two. I not only show them the chords, fret board, how to hold the guitar properly, how to tune the guitar; etc. but, I also issue them handouts of guitar chord illustrations, fret board charts, and chord changes with words to songs for them to practice on between lessons. I love to sing and make music! I have sung with the Houston Symphony Chorus, Dallas Symphony Chorus, Mesquite Community Chorus, ASU Graduate and Doctoral chorales, and many worship teams, I have been in many musicals and was the lead in "Pirates of Penzance" and "The Consul". I was also in "Annie Get Your Gun", "South Pacific", and "Fiddler on the Roof". I was a soloist, singer, guitarist, and dancer in the show "TEXAS!" in the Palo Duro Canyon. Read More

I do this because I love music, and I love helping others love music. So, while I do want the students to be very proficient musicians, I am mostly concerned in helping cultivate the student's passion for music. After all, if the student doesn't love the music, it's not near as urgent to practice and produce results. The love of the music is what drives the practice. I have a lifelong passion for music, with my passion being in drumming and percussion but having a great deal of experience in trombone and a strong knowledge of guitar as well. I graduated from Wesleyan University in 2008 with Honors in Music. I have just recently traveled to Ghana for a 10-month trip to study traditional drumming, Afrobeat drum set style, and more. I also traveled to Ghana in the summers of 2007 and 2008 on grants through Wesleyan allowing me to study traditional drumming more in depth from master drummers there. Read More
