Helping a singer build solid vocal technique is an organic process that unfolds as each singer presents his vocal strenghths, weaknesses, and learning styles. Everything I ask a student to do is based on the anatomy and psysiology of their vocal instrument. It is my goal to help singers understand and gain control over the many working parts that are involved in the singing process. I try to incorporate different exercises for each piece of music to keep things interesting for my students. I believe active physical engagement of the body is important to achieve freedom for the voice. This is particularly helpful for younger children to keep their minds from wandering during the lesson. I often ask for feedback from the students, to check in on how they are feeling physically and vocally. For beginning students who are children, I often use the Andrew Scott Method for flute. When the student is considerably advance I will use the Rubank Book for flute begginers. Once the student is at a comfortable level, I will proceed to introduce him to Body Mapping.
