The method in which I teach is directly related to the wants and needs of the individual student. Wherever pertinent, I create my own professionally printed custom handouts for my students. I firmly believe it's important to teach in a way that compliments any students personal strengths as a learner. That said no matter how we get there, I strive to make sure every student is able to build a solid foundation in ergonomic, proper guitar technique, as well as an understanding of music's underlying structures of rhythm, harmony and melody. Instruments: Piano Music

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 24years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 11years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

I believe that it is important to take the time to get to know each student's needs and to set realistic goals that will set them up for long-term success. By paying attention to what inspires the student and how they take in information most effectively, I can successfully tailor my instruction. I am a fairly laid back person, and understand that my students have wide-ranging activities and priorities. I will always find a way to use the lesson time effectively regardless of the level of preparation that a student is able to commit to in a given week. Read More
