As an approachable and experienced instructor, I am eager to offer a comprehensive approach to music education and enjoyment. From the fundamental theory concepts to the art of performance confidence and stage presence, my primary goal is bring the elements together to help create passionate, skilled, and enthusiastic musicians of all ages. I encourage sharing of musical ideas, and we will work together to set goals that motivate and inspire students. If audition preparation is needed for specific productions, I am happy to assist with the selection of appropriate pieces to wow directors and judges, provide accompaniment, and help avoid common audition pitfalls!
I have been consistently teaching private music lessons for the past 18 years. I began my own music education with piano and was always very active with choral singing during my younger years. I began studying voice in college, and found the piano background was an invaluable asset! At the end of high school I had traveled internationally for choral competitions and throughout college, I continued with classical solo performances, while branching in to opera roles and musical theater productions. Today, I still perform solo program concerts on the west coast, as well as local fundraisers for charitable causes here on the eat coast. I always encourage my students to share their talents, and to really enjoy the performance aspect, as a showcase of their hard work and talent!
My methods are highly individualized as i get a feel for the student's musical personality. I find it is important to provide structure and a framework for learning, and for piano we begin with one the standard piano lesson series - whichever seems to appeal to age and preference. Some younger students respond well to a rewards system, while others are naturally self-motivated. Technical exercises are valuable, both to gain appreciation for practice routines, and for strength and dexterity. For the voice (as it is a built-in instrument) we work on expanding vocal range through warm-up exercises. It's important to identify the natural transitions throughout a student's voice, usually based on classical technique for healthy sound production. We will be able to reconcile the voice with the music that the student is interested in singing, all styles are welcome! It's very rewarding to see the vocal growth and strengthening of breath control and stamina, as then the repertoire and style of singing grows!
My style is ambitious and positive! I want my students to realize the gifts they have, and I will support them in their journey to playing and sharing music; whether it be for the elementary school play, or for a professional track...or simply for pure enjoyment and personal growth! I do not wish to limit student to a specific style. Rather, I am here to steer people towards healthy, strong, and technically sound singing, (through physically supported breathing and mindful approaches to tone quality and song choices!) as well as solid knowledge base and empowering piano skills, The potential is limitless!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
