The core of my mission as an educator is to not only guide students toward realizing their own potentials as musicians, artists and complete human beings, but also to encourage and enable them to visualize their own growth and potential. To do that, I aim to construct learning environments which nurture self- discovery through guidance, as opposed to environments which dictate how students should develop and/or perceive material. The enjoyment I experience from teaching is because of my desire to see my students experience joy through their own learning. Read More

Of course, my methods will be very different depending on the age group and level of experience each student has, but many of my core principles with remain the same. One of my beliefs as a teacher of the saxophone, is that it is equally as important to foster musicality as it is master technique. Many teachers spend a disproportionate amount of time of technique, and the end result is a very robotic player. Read More

As Shinichi Suzuki said, musical harmony breeds social harmony; to learn and make music together helps us all. For this I have grown the string and choral programs in Elmhurst's 51st Avenue Academy; taught violin, viola, and chamber music at the Queens College Center for Preparatory Studies in Music; led the Stony Brook Pre-College chamber music program; taught strings and chorus in Kiev, Ukraine; taught graduate education courses at Touro College online; and enjoy teaching music at NJ's Calderone School. Instruments: Bass Guitar Double Bass
I have been teaching bass lessons since I was 17 years old. It can be extremely gratifying when a student and teacher are working together in a focused way, especially once the student begins to truly grasp what they have been taught. In addition to private bass lessons, I also have extensive experience running workshops and leading ensemble courses. I have taught all over, domestically and internationally, through colleges and jazz workshops. Read More
