My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I rose to become section leader of the clarinet section in band and section leader of the alto section in choir. Since then, I have been teaching private lessons to students of all different ages and skill levels, as well as individuals with disabilities. Encouraging practice schedules and routine is something I like to emphasize in younger students. No two students are exactly alike so I customize the curriculum for each individual student so they can best succeed on the piano. For beginner students, I usually start off with the Faber Piano Adventure series for young students and for adult beginners the Alfred Adult All-in-One Course to teach the basics and fundamentals of piano playing. I first ask the student to play so I can hear him/her. After a student plays a short piece of music of their own choosing I can determine what the next step is. Each student has his/her own individual needs.
