In my teaching approach, I cater to both beginners and advanced students, recognizing that each stage of musical development has its unique needs. For beginners, I focus on building a strong foundation in technique. We delve into the fundamentals of the instrument, ensuring a solid grasp of essential skills. Instruments: Piano Guitar Drums Orchestral Percussion
I focus on nurturing a students natural curiosity, while helping them find the tools to pursue their own musical interests. Many of my younger students prefer to use technology to connect with music (learning how songs are recorded, and the theory behind songwriting), but I also work with more serious students to prepare for college auditions, state/regional jazz band, etc. My methods differ depending on a student's own goals, but they generally all will start with a technical exercise, an exercise designed to get the student thinking critically, and an application of the concepts we're learning. I emphasize the importance of basics therefore I usually spend more time developing a solid fundamental skillI that allows my students to progress faster later on when they start playing solo pieces. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Read More

For my piano students depending on the age we start working on familiarizing the student with the instrument and we also choose a book that is appropriate for age and interests. For some students I use Faber, Bastien or Alfred. Read More
Instruments: Guitar
We went over some very basic principles starting with listening and goal settings. We also learned how to play along with a rhythm and learn the names of the different notes, scales, and chords. These are foundational building blocks that I use with all my students, but the number one factor for learning an instrument is having a love for it. I remember the first time that someone showed me how to play an AC/DC song and to me it was the most amazing thing in the world. Read More
