My teaching style is a mix of fun and education. I was a student who struggled with ADD and I want to make each student's learning experience fun as the rudiments are mastered. I include drum set sheet music, and learning the student's favorite songs at their pace. If they need help with school band charts they are welcomed to bring them for study at the lesson. My teaching approach focuses on fundamentals of technique, grooves, taste, and good timekeeping. I am interested in a student becoming a good listener and being able to play a variety of musical styles. I integrate rudiments, reading, drum fills, solo ideas, improvisation, and developing a unique style. I use a variety of methods, including skills I heard as a pro drummer on stage in the studio. I make use of books and other lessons depending on the ability level of the student , but I rely on classics like "Stick Control," "Syncopation" and "Accents and Rebounds". Read More

My experience begins immediately out of college. I gave private music lessons for many years. Soon I began concentrating on playing at the professional level in the Pocono Mountains where I lived. I was in several successful bands with Mickey Day, John Murphy, Spencer Reed, and Ed Ludwig along with others. I returned to teaching when I found a studio in Hackettstown, New Jersey to continue giving private lessons. I gave lessons there for approximately 20 years. Read More

Ashley is a recent graduate of Temple University- Boyer College of Music where she earned her Bachelor in Music in Flute Performance under Mr. David Cramer, Associate Principal Flute of the Philadephia Orchestra, and Mrs. Prema Kesselman, former Principal Flute of the Santiago Philharmonic. My teaching experience began in my junior year of high school (2009) when I was asked by younger students if I could teach them outside of school. I enjoyed teaching these students, their siblings, and other students up until last year (2013) when my last student left for college. I took a year off from teaching in order to complete my college degree at Towson University, and now that I have graduated I am looking to share my knowledge, experience, work ethic, and passion for music, with students that have a burning desire to pursue music either as a living, or a hobby.
