I will work on songs but also larger concepts including ear training, improvisation, reading, and chord knowledge/ theory. I use appropriate level texts based on the student's experience first and age level second but always teach from what will make either younger students or adults feel comfortable. For beginning students I start with a simple five note scale, how to hold or sit with the instrument, and an easy tune such as mary had a little lamb or happy birthday; Some students get that in the first lesson and some take a couple weeks everyone has their own process. During the 1980s, Stuart played with the infamous Punk legend, Dean Johnson, in Dean and the Weenies. In 1990, he joined the band known as The Rakes Progress which recorded for Almo/Geffen Records.
