ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:
BM, Monmouth University, Guitar Performance -Minor in Voice Performance -Minor in Piano Performance
Awards:

2014 - Monmouth University School of Music Great Lawn Scholarship 2016 - Performed at Wilson Hall

Overview:
I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students of all ages and levels. I currently attend Monmouth University and will be receiving a BM in Guitar Performance. I will also have a minor in Voice and Piano. Due to my career ending Division I soccer injury, performing has become one of my greatest loves, teaching is my first! I tailor each lesson to each students needs and thoroughly enjoy watching each student progress. Personally, I have played throughout the Tri-State area and Philadelphia.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching when I was 17 and have a pretty busy schedule of up to 35 students a week! Many of those students still continue to take lessons after 3 years of instruction and have improved beyond their original goals. I find that each student has different interests (rock, jazz, classical, pop, etc.) which is why I enjoy focusing on what they want to learn. Other students do not know exactly what they want to learn; however, they just want to improve in playing their instrument all around. I have many different methods between song-learning and scales that will definitely show drastic improvement as long as the student practices! I encourage many students to perform live in recitals or other shows so that they can see their improvement for themselves. I am always looking to bring on new students of all ages and levels!
METHODS USED
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with simple chords and teach them a few fun songs. If the student is interested in learning how to read music, I will use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance if they are interested in performing live. For adults, I like to find out what they are most interested in, whether it is a specific genre, (jazz/classical) or if they are more interested in learning songs (classic rock/pop/etc.) or songwriting. I always make sure that the lesson is both engaging and fun to ensure that the student is receiving the most out of it.
LESSON STYLE
I love seeing my students develop a passion for music! That is why I make sure each student progresses at their own pace by setting realistic goals for each lesson. I always acknowledge a student when they practice very hard and ask great questions. By understanding what the student wants out of the lesson, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.
