My teaching experience dates back to over 10 years ago. After taking music in school and learning instruments and vocal performance, I wanted to inspire others to have confidence in their talent and the development of their talent. I started teaching guitar to the children in my church and in the community, I became a mentor for youth and started teaching adults who wanted to learn how to sing and play the guitar. Read More

There’s a million different approaches, and we’ll find the one(s) that work best for you. Everyone (even more traditional classical players) tend to take their own path to guitar mastery. This is in part why new techniques and styles of playing are popping up all the time! When starting out, I like to lay a good foundation; teaching students proper hand positioning and posture first. I like to combine this with some single string exercises and some basic chords and strumming patterns that can be used musically, and applied to learning parts or simplified versions of songs the student is familiar with and enjoys listening to. I am a highly motivated andenthusiastic instructor who loves giving people of all ages the gift of playing and performing music. I graduated from the State University of New York at Albany with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz Guitar Performance in 2010. Music has been the biggest positive influence in my life and I have not been able to put the guitar down since I was 12 years old and first started to play. Read More

My style is largely theory and hard technique based. I know that every student is very different and will have a different optimal technique. Whether that means I need to teach a rock student fingerstyle or hybrid picking to master a song with fast arpeggiations, or maybe figure out that someone with small hands must move their left thumb down a little bit to hit a cross-neck chord in a classical song, for instance, I personally believe that everyone is going to play a little differently to achieve the same results. For a beginning student on guitar, I have them learning notes from a Hal Leonard, Mel Bay, or Alfred starter book. All these books are great, but I believe it depends on the individual student and how they learn. I also teach tab to beginners. I feel it is important to read tabs these days as well as notes. I also work with music theory. It is also important to know what you are doing, not just putting your fingers on the strings. Read More

I began teaching guitar/piano part-time during my teenage years at a Music School in Northern New Jersey. As of now I have 20+ years of part time musical instruction experience. I mostly travel to students' homes for musical instruction which helps me stress to their parents how very important practice and routine is in musical studies. I teach a mix of classical and modern music as it motivates my students to practice with something they are familiar with. Read More
