While I was living in Chicago, I started my own voice studio. Unfortunately, after a couple of years I had to close shop when I moved to the United Kingdom to pursue my postgraduate degree in musical theatre. I directed, stage managed, and assistant directed many musical theatre productions and musical performances in Chicago, Nashville, Washington D.C. and London. I have had ten years of varied professional experience in the industry both on and off stage. Read More

My teaching style is very much praxial and based off of skill reinforcement. For any instrument, I will incorporate the Kodaly method (solfege) of musicianship into the curriculum. For me, my goal is to teach the student how to learn for themselves. I focus on practice techniques, assessment of tone, sound, rhythms, pitches, etc. Rather than spoon feed all of the answers to the students, I wish to encourage each musician to develop their own critical mind towards the art that they create. For beginning students, I introduce musical theatre and classical repertoire and the fundamentals of music theory. As the student progresses, I include advanced exercises used to strengthen the voice and have them learn various styles of singing based on their interests and career path. Students are expected to vocalize every day on their own and complete any homework or songs before assigned dates. For students interested, I will also enter them into competitions and auditions where they can expand their performance experience. Read More
