I recently completed my Master's in Voice Performance at Florida State University. I have aspirations to become a Professor of Voice as well as an avid performer. In 2014 I graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Music in Musical Arts. I am qualified to teach private voice lessons, as well as group classes, due to my degree and my musical background. I tailor my coaching approach to my student's needs. If the focus is on exams and recitals, I use Berklee and Tring Syllabus. I do focus more on skills: developing the Voice (developing a belted voice, head voice, or whatever is needed) and Performance, unless Music theory is requested. I start my students with standard songs, classical, Broadway, (unless a specific genre is requested) but expose my students to different genres and help them find the strength and uniqueness of their own voice. I expect students to practice to show weekly improvement. I encourage younger students by rewarding them with stickers if they do a go job when they play their selections for me. Every student is encouraged to improve and have fun at the same time. There is a year end recital where students will perform and showcase what they have learned during the year. As I previously mentioned, I try my best to keep lessons as fun and engaging as possible, because I feel that creative enjoyment is a very important motivator in this field. That being said, I do encourage and appreciate a consistent practice schedule so that my students may advance at an appropriate pace.
