The key to being a successful teacher is understanding your students learning styles and adjusting your methods to best suit their needs. With this in mind, I tailor each lesson for individual students by understanding their goals, determining their level, and selecting appropriate repertoire. As a musician, I aspire to touch lives through music and make a difference one tune at a time. Whether winning first place in a piano competition, performing for weddings and recitals, accompanying soloists, collaborating with other musicians, or playing in church venues, I have always enjoyed music; and, I believe music is meant to be shared. My teaching methods vary depending on the needs and desires of each individual student, however I generally try my best to maintain a steady balance of academic practice and fun. I've taught students of piano & voice ranging from ages 3 to senior citizen, so I understand that every student needs to be approached differently. For young beginners, I will typically begin with simple, low-pressure exercises to familiarize the student with their instrument, and advance when they are ready. Read More

For beginners, I like to provide a custom packet of mine in which I send to my students to not only assess their current aptitude on the instrument but the packet will serve as a their fundamental guide in order to stay focused on progressing even while learning new and exciting music of their own choosing. Moving forward with Advanced, Intermediate, and Professional level students, I like to provide each level student the same materials and recommend the same books but in terms of personal music goals and solo repertoire, I would tailor the works to that student's progress level and what they plan to accomplish during our time together.
