I let my students determine their own pace. I want my students to be comfortable around me, whether if they have a question or just are curious about something. Sometimes a lesson could be a simple jam session. You can learn with a plan, or get the creative juices flowing with a nice easy jam sesh. What I love most about drumming is the endless rhythms and sounds the world has to offer. Read More

My musical experience dates back to 1997 when I first had the opportunity to start playing the snare drum in my middle school band program. It was a great way for me to feel better about my school day and highlighted the common interests I had with my classmates. A few years later I wanted a drum set and started a band with my school mates to showcase songs like, "wipe out" and "all the small things" ( a pop/punk song from blink 182 in 1999) at the school talent show. I believe in a holistic approach to music education, starting with the foundational elements that ensure long-term success. I use the Faber Piano Adventures series, which I myself learned from as a young pianist, to ensure the proper learning of fundamentals. From the beginning, I incorporate music theory and aural skills/ear training to foster a comprehensive understanding of music. Repertoire is carefully assigned according to the student's level, with pieces becoming progressively more advanced at the appropriate times. Read More

Nothing is more important and rewarding to me than seeing my students develop their own passion for music and the instrument. I work extremely hard to help my students achieve their goals by catering every lesson specifically to the student. This includes getting to know each and every student, exploring their musical preferences, taking note of their learning styles; then utilizing these things to plan realistic objectives and enjoyable lessons every week. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

I'm a young Baritone vocalist who currently studies vocal performance at the Florida State University College of Music in Tallahassee, Florida. I've been playing the piano and singing since 2008, when I began my formal training in both disciplines. Although my primary focus is in classical music, I have also had years of experience in Jazz, Musical Theatre, and Pop genres with both instruments. One of my favorite musical memories that I've made is when I was given the opportunity to sing Leonard Bernstein's "Chichester Psalms" on the stage of Carnegie Hall in New York City. Read More

The most important step in ensuring a student gets focused instruction towards their plans is to come up with a teaching plan for what they wish to accomplish, either with the student or parent/guardian depending on their age and experience. My style incorporates music theory, standard repertoire, and ear training into their lessons so that they have a well-rounded understanding of music and how to better engage with it in the real world.
