Instruments: Flute Piccolo
Music is best when shared, and teaching others to love to play the flute as much as I do is the greatest joy! I graduated from Georgia State University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance. I was able to perform a wide variety of music with many diverse groups of musicians, all while learning about education and how to teach others. One of my favorite things is collaborating with composers to create new music. Read More
Instruments: Cello
Teaching and sharing music is my passion. I am a performer, graduating with a degree in Cello Performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 2011. During my time at Oberlin, I performed across the country and even in Europe, but I was always able to come home to my students that I taught throughout my degree. I have experience working in the international sector of music performance, coming together with musicians from around the world to put together chamber music ensembles. Read More
Instruments: Violin Synthesizer Electric Guitar Acoustic Guitar
I started teaching in high school because I was trying to save up money to buy a lot of new music equipment. I taught on and off for about a year. I really enjoy helping people realize their potential and showing them how to unlock a piece of music that a first may have seemed almost impossible to learn. I encourage my students to go out and play for as many people they can so that they can lessen their nerves and learn about music performance which is an important aspect in the musical career world. Instruments: Drums
After we have established the basics on the kit we start to work on rudiments, reading, grip (we will come back to grip a lot,) dynamics, and fills. I always try to provide purpose behind elements in a lesson, an explanation as to WHY we are working on something and HOW it will be used. With more advanced students we will assess where they are, where they want to be and build a plan to achieve that goal. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I tailor my coaching approach to my student's needs. If the focus is on exams and recitals, I use Berklee and Tring Syllabus. I do focus more on skills: developing the Voice (developing a belted voice, head voice, or whatever is needed) and Performance, unless Music theory is requested. I start my students with standard songs, classical, Broadway, (unless a specific genre is requested) but expose my students to different genres and help them find the strength and uniqueness of their own voice. Instruments: Piano Saxophone
I am currently a graduate teaching assistant for the saxophone studio at Florida State University. Here is a summary of my past teaching experience: Visiting guest artist at Montclair State University, coaching saxophone quartets (April 2018). Teaching private lessons to students of all ages at Music Arts in Olathe, KS (2017 2019). Teaching private lessons, both saxophone and piano, to students of all ages (2016 - present). Teaching private lessons, both saxophone and piano, to elementary and middle school students in the North New Jersey area for "Home Sweet Home Music Lessons Inc." (2015 - 2017). Read More
Instruments: Piano
When it comes to piano method books, the options are limitless. Method books are often approached with the mindset that one size fits all. Having studied with numerous professors and graduates of renowned colleges (I.e. Moscow conservatory, Juilliard etc.) I have experienced first hand, styles and methods from a myriad of instructors. Just as every student is different, I believe the choice of method books should be adjusted based on the aspirations, personality, and learning style of the student. Read More
