Many kids are struggling with focus and discipline, so piano is a tool to improve their focus and discipline. Beginning Piano Students: I use three books in the Piano Adventures series: (Performance, Lesson, and Theory). I work composition into the lesson using the Orff-Schulwerk technique of elemental music creation. In addition, I supplement written musical work as needed. Voice Students: I interview all voice students first to see what their goals are in voice study. I then begin vocal study with the study of posture using Alexander Technique ideas, and a study of breathing and support techniques. Read More

Originally from Kansas City, I studied vocal performance, choral conducting and music education at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. I have directed and music directed productions all over the United States, including the current Off-Broadway production of Honestly Abe. I have performed a wide variety of leading roles in everything from opera and operetta, to musical comedy and straight drama.
