For very young beginning students, I usually start with Shirley Givens' Adventures in Violinland. After some time, I like to switch to the Suzuki books to encourage training their ears. Each student is very different, and I cater and switch method books based on each student's individual need. For all ages, I encourage them to listen to violinists they enjoy on YouTube, and choose pieces they want to learn. Even if what they choose is a challenge, I believe they will be more inspired to work hard to learn the piece if they chose it. Read More

I will do everything I can to help them achieve this goal and find a way to keep the lessons engaging. If I am starting out with an adult student, I would want to find out what they are interested in achieving and work with them towards their goal. I have been teaching privately and in group classes for the past 6 years. This past summer, I taught a chamber orchestra of kids ages 6-12 in Narni, Italy. It was a truly rewarding experience. Most of my experience is with teaching private lessons. I am open to teaching all ages and levels. For violin, I teach mostly beginners and intermediate students, but can teach all levels for viola. What that means is I prefer to help students by means of demonstrating skills( Left/ right-hand technique, excerpts from music, etc.), to scaffold their learning, and to help them overcome challenges by means of critical thinking and problem-solving.
