For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Method. I introduce the student to basic instrumental technique on their chosen instrument, whether it be violin or piano. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

For beginning piano students who are children, I usually start with John Thompson's "Teaching Little Fingers To Play."  Once the student has progressed and becomes more familiar with reading the notes in both clefs, I will begin to introduce solo pieces of music that the child picks out of the choices I present to them.  I do this to help encourage and reward the child with their success.  For adult piano students, I find out what the student is interested in and guide my instruction accordingly. I want the students to understand how their instrument works by demystifying the mechanics. I am a performing violinist, however I am most passionate about teaching and also playing chamber music. I began my musical studies playing the piano at age 7 and the violin at age 9. As a youth, I served as concertmaster of the South Bay Youth Symphony, Azusa Pacific Symphony Orchestra and Texas Christian University Symphony Orchestra. With the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, I participated in two European tours and had the honor of performing at Cite de la Musique in Paris, the Dvorak Hall in Prague, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and Amsterdam's Concertgebouw.
