Since the age of 11, I have been studying the violin on a systematic and professional training track. Performing in symphonic orchestras and chamber ensembles has been truly enjoyable and enriching. My students get to choose some of their repertoire and lesson content as it makes it more enjoyable for them. I do require all students to play scales as they provide an essential foundation for all that they will play. I want the students to understand how their instrument works by demystifying the mechanics. I create custom lesson plans for each student based on their level, interests and goals. Typically I start brand new beginners with the basics, learning the parts of the instruments and the notes. Being a very visual learner myself, I enjoy using method books such as the Sassmannshaus series, as they are beautifully illustrated and help to capture and hold young children's attention.
