I then attended Housatonic College where the Costanzo brothers, Sonny and Sam, headed the music department. Sonny is a renowned trombonist in the New York City area who has played over the years with Clark Terry’s big band and now leads his own. One of the highlights into my ventures with jazz was to study under John Mehegan, noted scholar, author and educator. John set into motion the study of jazz theory and improvisation with his four book series on the subject, which is still highly recognized today. Read More

I am a passionate, outgoing, realistic, and motivational instructor. I adore working with children and sharing my love for music and music history. I graduated from RI College in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Arts and Sciences focusing on Voice Performance. I have had opportunities to perform with the Opera Workshop of RI College, and some small opera groups and organizations in Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, and Texas. Read More

While there, I tutored several classmates in musical theatre, taught private piano lessons, and worked with several classmates on their voice pieces for our recital at the end of each semester. As the only student to play piano and have a classical background in voice, I was the go-to-guy when people needed help. After graduating, I worked as a choreographer for a local community theatre, I taught gymnastics (former gymnast of 8 years), and continued to work with students and friends in both voice and piano. Like I said before, it is all about finding the true and mostefficient voice. Every voice and different, unique, and beautiful. Ihelp train the voice to function properly and effectively in aclassical style. You can take classical training and use it in anysinging medium. My favorite thing in the world is when a student hasan "Ah ha" moment, where we, together have figured out something thatworks and changes the voice's freedom for the better. Read More

I like to set attainable, yet challenging goals for each student. Ensuring that each student progresses at his or her own pace will encourage the development of a love for music. I try to acknoweldge a student's progress in order to inspire a desire to keep learning. Each lesson includes some technical exercises, a theory component, and other components pertinent to the specific instrument. For example, piano and organ students will learn scales and arpeggios, voice students will learn various breathing techniques. Read More

For beginning students, I start with the Essential Elements book. If the student has already taken lessons or is in their school band/orchestra, I encourage moving onto the Rubank Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced method books depending on ability. Once a student has proven that they are able to handle it, I will start on solo repertoire. Particularly for college-bound musicians who wish to major in music, the majority of their lessons will be based on preparing solo literature for All District or college auditions. Read More

I began teaching private voice students while I was still working on my Masters degree. I was the Concert Choir section leader in College and found leadership and spreading my love for music to be exhilarating! I encourage all of my students to set a reasonable practice schedule to get themselves into the habit of practicing and really reaching their full potential as a student. I accept recreational students as well as students who are looking towards a career in music in the future. Read More
