Overview:

I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves to teach. I greatly enjoy helping students achieve their musical goals. In 2010, I graduated from Tennessee Temple University with a B.S. in Church Music with an emphasis in voice. I have a heart for people and love leading in worship. I have had the opportunity and privilege to lead worship in several States, as well as over seas. I have over 5 years experience teaching, as well as leading several worship teams. I presently serve as a vocalist for Elevation Church.

EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching music lessons for over 5 years. When I first started, I taught part time for people in my church. I began to realize that I love to help develop people. I see myself as a catalyst for realizing full potential. I believe a teacher's greatest asset is not necessarily how much knowledge that can instill into their student, because knowledge can only take you so far. Rather a teacher's greatest asset is inspiration. I am a huge advocate for practice and comprehension, but with inspiration I believe students will achieve more and find a passion for honing their craft.

METHODS USED

I first find out a little bit about my students musical likes and taste, or, with younger students, find somethingfun that interests them, just to find some common ground. I also find out a students long term goals. For instance, if a student seeks to be a opera singer as opposed to a worship leader, the training needs to be more pointed towards classical pieces and Arias instead of learning church music and how to engage a crowd. Overall, I try to keep whatever we are doing, from guitar to voice to piano, fun and interesting for all involved.

LESSON STYLE

There is nothing more rewarding for me than the "lightbulb" moments. To see a student light up with excitement over the satisfaction of knowing he or she has been able to achieve or conquer a concept or a piece of music is so awesome for me. I love helping students travel the process of going from point A to Z. I love the challenge of inspiring students through the difficult times when it would be easier to just give up and quit. I am a firm believer that if you commit to the process, you will continue in your progress. This is my mantra.
