I like to set attainable, yet challenging goals for each student. Ensuring that each student progresses at his or her own pace will encourage the development of a love for music. I try to acknoweldge a student's progress in order to inspire a desire to keep learning. Each lesson includes some technical exercises, a theory component, and other components pertinent to the specific instrument. I established the Stanton School Afro-Brazilian Drum ensembles, the Orff Ensembles and three choruses. I have also taught at the collegiate level at Eisenhower College for 8 years. I played clarinet with the Auburn Chamber Orchestra and the flute and piano as a soloist for community events, weddings and church services. I use a variety of methods, custom-fit for each student individually. I teach Classical and church piano, along with sightreading, ear training, performance techniques, music theory, and other techniques specially designed to give my students the most well-rounded learning experience possible. I tend to prefer Piano Adventures for younger students and teens, and incorporate use of the corresponding app whenever possible.
