I look at each student individually to assess their potential and goals before setting a book or particular study plan. Once the student has begun basic technique exercises, I assign book levels and vocal repertoire that fits their interests as well as matching what I feel the student needs to be working on. I approach children and adults with the same methods: 1)Find out what the student's goals are. 2)Assign repertoire/technique exercises. that will help them reach those goals while allowing me to teach them the skills they need to attain those goals Read More

I have been teaching music lessons for over 5 years. When I first started, I taught part time for people in my church. I began to realize that I love to help develop people. I see myself as a catalyst for realizing full potential. I believe a teacher's greatest asset is not necessarily how much knowledge that can instill into their student, because knowledge can only take you so far. Rather a teacher's greatest asset is inspiration. Read More

At the beginning I will test the students on how much they know and what they like to play(soundtracks, gospel songs, songs out of the hymnal, classical etc). I start every lesson with positive and a little bit of chit chat to see how everything in their life is going. I also like to reward excellent behavior and good work(stickers, smiley faces, candy at the end). Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my high school years where i would actually walk to a students home to teach. I have been teaching for over 50 years. Students leave with a sense of excitement and accomplishment and look foward to the next weeks lesson. Making music with new students is always exciting and very rewarding to see a new student actually accomplishing something that will benefit their lives in future years to come. Read More

There is nothing better than making a difference in a students life. I believe that we learn far more when we are having fun, so I try to make my lessons as fun as possible! I tailor my lessons specifically to each students goals and needs and I always make sure to let them know how much theyre progressing. I give a lot of compliments because I believe that encouraging students yields far greater results than when a teacher yields a hammer. Read More

Practice is important, but smart practice is essential. I help the student to practice efficiently without wasting time or energy. Smart practice also means to get results and achieve goals quickly. Technique is tremendously important in order to execute the music. Classical music is the fundamental and first step a student needs to take in order to learn and perform music properly. If his/her interest is popular music or jazz, I aim to give the student a classical assignment as well as an assignment in these genres. Read More

I started teaching in high school and fell in love with it. After college I moved around a bit and spent time developing playing by ear. Now I am settled and loving teaching! I really strive to develop a fun relationship with my students (especially the younger ones) because nobody is going to practice if they aren't having a good time at the lesson! Lessons with me are stress free and full of laughs and scales. Read More
