Overview:
I am enthusiastic about sharing all that I have learned with future students. I have given many different solo and collaborative performances all over the eastern United States. In the collaborative field, I have accompanied vocalists and instrumentalists. I have been the principal pianist in various orchestras and have performed piano in many different ensembles that championed traditional and contemporary works. I have also much experience in performing and studying jazz studies or popular music if this is where the student's interest lies. I have completed graduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of South Carolina. In 2010, I earned a Bachelor of Music degree in piano from Belmont University.
EXPERIENCE
I have given lessons and studied a variety of pedagogical methods. Each individual is different and in order to keep the student motivated, a successful teacher needs to emphasize the importance of learning while never compromising the enjoyment one can get from the piano. I have taken piano pedagogy courses at Carnegie Mellon University and Belmont University. While in Pittsburgh, I served on the faculty of the Pittsburgh Piano Academy. I have my own studio but am willing to travel to the student's home for lessons.
METHODS USED
I was brought up learning the Suzuki Method of Piano. This method has its benefits, but I also utilize other methods such as Faber's Piano Adventures or Clark's The Music Tree. Developing a good ear is essential when trying to express yourself musically. Piano technique is also essential when trying to execute what you want at the right moment. With an emphasis on technique and listening, I motivate my students to also read the music and to interpret the only source that is made available to them.
LESSON STYLE
Practice is important, but smart practice is essential. I help the student to practice efficiently without wasting time or energy. Smart practice also means to get results and achieve goals quickly. Technique is tremendously important in order to execute the music. Classical music is the fundamental and first step a student needs to take in order to learn and perform music properly. If his/her interest is popular music or jazz, I aim to give the student a classical assignment as well as an assignment in these genres.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
