I believe that learning an instrument must be taught from all three approaches: tactile, aural, and visual. I incorporate all three of these into each lesson so the student can walk away feeling like she has gotten closer to her instrument! For young students, I follow a Suzuki approach where a parent or guardian plays a vital role in practicing and musical development. I use the Suzuki books, a reliable source for musical progress, as well as some American fiddlin' tunes from the O'Connor Method Books. Read More

I have been teaching music lessons for over 5 years. When I first started, I taught part time for people in my church. I began to realize that I love to help develop people. I see myself as a catalyst for realizing full potential. I believe a teacher's greatest asset is not necessarily how much knowledge that can instill into their student, because knowledge can only take you so far. Rather a teacher's greatest asset is inspiration. Read More

For me, it is easier for me to hear a rhythm or melody while looking at it. It is easier for me to grasp and understand the rhythm and melody in terms of the context of the piece. Same with my teaching. I will always demonstrate a scale or rhythm or chord for a student before having the student attempt it by themselves. After we work through the example together, I will have them try playing it alone and if a particular area needs to be fixed I will address it, make sure the student understands, and move on from there. My teaching experience dates back to my high school years where i would actually walk to a students home to teach. I have been teaching for over 50 years. Students leave with a sense of excitement and accomplishment and look foward to the next weeks lesson. Making music with new students is always exciting and very rewarding to see a new student actually accomplishing something that will benefit their lives in future years to come. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice
I use an integrated style of lesson that is custom-made to each individual student regarding his/her voice type and needs, as well as different areas of music language that need more studying, like theory, music notation, solfege, rhythm, basic piano technique, ear training. When a student is ready, subjects like stage presence and audition technique become part of our lessons. But first and foremost rule in my studio is to have fun while learning. My studio is a no-judgement zone, where I encourage my students to be free, to express themselves. Read More
