Teaching is my passion and calling, i can't think of doing anything else! In 2013 I graduated from Fairfield University with a triple major in English, Gender Studies, and Violin Performance. While studying at University I started my band with my sister, Verdigrls. We have gone on to put out an EP, play all over the NY metropolitan area as well as have our music featured in movies and television. My teaching methods are individually tailored to the student's needs and abilities. For young students and/or for those with less voice experience, I like to combine the basics of singing along with musicianship skills to set the student up for success, incorporating lots of fun to keep the young students interested in practice and lessons. For more experienced students, I like to start with warmups and exercises that are designed to set the student up for success in repertoire, and then finish the lesson working through repertoire specifically working through challenging areas of each piece and finding an emotional connection to each piece once ideal technique is established. Since moving to NYC, I have also started teaching at the New City School of Music in New City, NY. I find that teaching has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had while in music, and I often feel that I have learned as much from teaching as from my own study. I firmly believe that it is as important that students learn basic musicianship skills such as sight-singing and music theory as learning their instrument of choice, and I try to incorporate these elements, among others, in voice lessons. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio and conservatories/colleges more than 18 years. Encouraging regular practice is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument.
