I began teaching lessons part time five years ago when I was an undergraduate. I have worked with all ages, from young students to teenagers to adult learners. I also have experience coaching small ensembles at summer string camps. I love to give my students opportunities to play music together and for each other. When I was taking lessons as a young student, I found that the community that my teacher fostered at his studio by holding recitals, weekly group classes and holiday events was just as important to my improvement as my one-on-one time with my teacher. The ultimate goal of my teaching philosophy is to help my students to develop a passion for music and eventually develop their own understanding of music in an artistic form. Every week, I set goals that are individualized for every student. If the goals are not met, we could discuss the situation and adjust accordingly. After each lesson, I wrote down their homework, and if a parent is there, I go over their progress. If it's an adult student, I obviously don't have to do that, but I enjoy all ages, and have students 4-82 currently! I even go to teach my 82 year old student, at her assisted living place! The difference between a kid and an adult student, is usually, that the child notices the correctly notes, while the adult thinks they had to be 7 to learn. Read More

Hello! My name is Julia and I'm an NYC-based actor/musician. I graduated in 2015 from Shenandoah Conservatory with a BFA in Acting. I'm also a proud National Theatre Institute and Moscow Art Theater alumna. In 2017, I completed my year and a half run with the Broadway National Tour of Once the Musical as the female swing, understudying: Girl (piano), Rza (violin) and Ex-Girlfriend (violin).
