Hi, I am a music instructor who strives to meet the musical needs and desires of every student of mine, through sharing my passion and love of music. I like to learn what my students' musical taste is, while at the same time making sure that they learn the necessary musical theory, history, and technique existent in the music we work on. I graduated from Long Island University-CW Post with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and I graduated from SUNY StonyBrook with a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, focusing solely on music. I believe that a judgement-free, cooperative lesson atmosphere is crucial to a student's success! Violinists and violists are often taught according to a traditional teaching method that is too rigid and outdated. In contrast, I design my lessons to fit each of my students' individual artistic goals, and encourage students to ask questions. I usually make a list of areas of focus for each lesson, and encourage my students to keep a practice journal. Read More

My love for teaching began as a peer tutor in college. I tutored students in piano, guitar, bass ear training, and music theory. I began to love teaching when I noticed the change and progress it creates within people. While in college, I taught at a musical theatre camp as a music teacher. I taught music theory, ear training, and vocal music. Right after I graduated college I was accepted into the music education program at Teachers College Columbia University where I received my masters degree in music education along with certification in New York state to teach Pre-K through 12. My teaching style is by assigning studies and etudes to develop fundamentals while simultaneously incorporating the learnt fundamentals into “real-time”, on the job training! I have learned all of my most valuable lessons while performing and being put on the spot; I will teach my students how to be prepared for any situation, not only in regard to music but also in relation to life, by having a calm and steady approach to the task at hand! In addition to the teaching I do at Juilliard as Mr. Perlman and Mr. Lin's Assistant, I have been teaching all levels privately since 2013, initially part-time, and within the last two years more full-time. I believe that music is a universal creative outlet for expression no matter one's age, background, or level. I also believe that it is my duty to pass on the knowledge I've gained through my teachers and experiences to others interested in music. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 15 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 10 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
