Since 2012 I worked as an ear-training tutor and private piano instructor during my undergraduate years. I used Kodaly method for ear-training tutoring and helped many college students improve and achieve their goal in their classes. I taught age 4 - 12 children piano until 2014. After I moved to the city, I started teaching music theory and piano privately since last summer. It is a basic book with specific essential elements for reading and understanding music. As the student progresses I use to introduce songs for their repertoire applying what they leaned in the book. Whether it's jazz, pop, classical, blues, most styles of music share these principles in common and are best played when the musician can understand the underlying structures. Ive been teaching piano for the last 20+ years and love opening the world of music to my students. I started learning piano at age ten and continued my music education for 10 years. I was grateful to have mostly one-on one instruction, since this really trained me to be an empathetic teacher, focused on the needs of the individual student.
