I graduated with my Bacholers in Music and Pyschology with a focus on opera voice in 2009. In my performance program I really grew as a vocalist and learned how to overcome my own obstacles and improve my vocal technique for myself. I feel confident now in sharing my experience and my education with my students so they are able to really grow and improve as well. All levels of voice are welcome in my studio! For beginners I generally begin with giving the basics of how the voice functions and focus on breathing for singing. Then we ease into vocal exercises. After the first few lessons we move on to singing a simple song. I encourage the student to bring in music they like and would like to sing. I begin teaching every student with the same vocal exercises to strengthen the voice and then we discuss different styles and how the voice can change stylistically but not technically. Read More

The exercises are designed to work through the process of singing, allowing students the ability to employ their unique voices. I teach using plain language that is developmentally appropriate and grounded in anatomy and the physical practice of singing. This allows me to help guide students to independence and understanding about how to best mobilize their voices without the use of mysterious imagery that, at best, only works sporadically.
