The exercises are designed to work through the process of singing, allowing students the ability to employ their unique voices. I teach using plain language that is developmentally appropriate and grounded in anatomy and the physical practice of singing. This allows me to help guide students to independence and understanding about how to best mobilize their voices without the use of mysterious imagery that, at best, only works sporadically. Using my strong understanding of vocal anatomy and development, I tailor my explanations so they are developmentally appropriate for all ages. Read More

With over ten years of experience as a songwriter, performer, teacher, and recording artist, I have harnessed my passion for music, using it as an effective tool in empowering youth and adults from all over the world to build self-confidence through self-expression. Most recently, I developed a community music learning program which serves to give back to the community through music lessons and workshops that create accessibility and opportunity for beginners to pick up an instrument or write a song, to build upon musical self-expression. I would say that I am quite fungible when it comes to a particular style of teaching. I always try to bring a lot of energy and excitement to each individual student! I will teach my methods, but try to find the right language for the student to best understand. Every person is different in how they learn and I think it is important to be adaptable to see the best progress and success with students. Read More

I always begin a lesson with having the student play a song/piece of their choice, so that they can feel confident and comfortable in their own skin and in the lesson space. For wind instruments, long tones and scales will occur at the beginning of the lesson, and will be followed by study of an etude and/or piece of repertoire. I will ask the student to sing through the piece, so that the student can make a connection with their own voice and with the music, followed by the student reading through the piece with their instrument. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
