Hello! I'm a passionate and experienced performer and voice teacher living in New York City. I graduated from Baldwin Wallace University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Theater. A few months after graduation, I landed the principal role of Munkustrap in the 1st National Broadway Tour of the CATS revival. During my time with the production, I performed in major touring houses in both the US and Canada, from the Hollywood Pantages in Los Angeles to the Princess of Wales Theater in Toronto. In addition to my tour experience, I've appeared in regional houses across the country as an actor and have performed in concert with a number of orchestras.
As an actor and vocalist, some of my recent credits include: Munkustrap in CATS (Broadway National Tour), Gabe in Next to Normal (Theater on the Square), Jamie in The Last Five Years (Revolution Theatrics), and Pippin in Pippin (Thin Air Theater Co.). Throughout my education, I was classically trained with a focus in Bel Canto technique. From there, I expanded my knowledge into different approaches to singing, studying everything from Complete Vocal Technique (CVT) to Estill. In addition to my training as a vocalist, I've studied vocal pedagogy in New York City under the instruction of Justin Stoney. I've been teaching for a little over 6 years, working with students of all levels ranging from beginners to Broadway professionals. Regardless of experience, I encourage all of my students to explore a wide range of material and to experiment with the diversity of their voice. You shouldn't be afraid to tackle pop music, nor should you be afraid to tackle an aria. I've found that the voice is capable of almost anything with training and dedication.
For beginning students, I'm interested in building a base of fundamentals, from proper breathing to a basic understanding of resonance and compression. We will explore a variety of exercises that will help you understand the many sounds you can make using your voice. For intermediate students, I'm interested in attaching your technique to your repertoire. We will explore material based on your vocal goals, keeping your voice happy and healthy while singing music that you enjoy. For advanced students, I'm interested in building your repertoire, expanding your range, and maintaining your voice. We will explore a vast array of material, allowing you to expand your horizons as a vocalist. For all students, my goal is to create a welcoming environment in which you're willing to play with different sounds and techniques. I understand that singing can be remarkably vulnerable, and I'm here to help you grow and develop while feeling safe and supported.
Singing is about expressing yourself, not about fitting into "molds." I'm interested in helping you find YOUR voice. Because of this, I use a highly individualized method of teaching, adapting my approach based on your wants and needs. If you want to sing classical music, let's sing classical music. If you want to get into pop or rock genres, let's rock out. With this in mind, my number one objective is to help you grow and develop towards your goals in a way that's both healthy and sustainable. With my education and experience, I can help you sing in any style without harming your voice.
