My teaching style is very relaxed, reassuring, and stress free. There is no overwhelming goals set in place, but growth will be noticed instantly. I am very patient, kind, and really good at just listening out for the need of the student and harmonizing with them. I will teach every student differently because each persons needs are different. For piano students ages 5-9, I generally use the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures series. For piano ages 10-12 I use the Older Beginner series. My teen and adult students normally work out of and Adult All in One series. For more advanced piano students Ill work repertoire, theory and scales/technique as needed/desired by the student. My approach to teaching is solely based on vocal placement and having a great time. I encourage my students to mimic their favorite artists and or artist that they are not familiar with. This enables the students to loosen the tension in the voice and to get out of their comfort zones. I performed for twenty-two years at the Metropolitan Opera and for thirty-eight years as a leading concert and oratorio singer. Operatic venues I have performed in encompass the major opera companies across America and Europe. As a recitalist, I have toured to places such as Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Yugoslavia, the Far East (Japan, Korea, Hong Kong), Australia, New Zealand, Holland, and Switzerland. My methods of teaching have been refined over the years and I've found it that methods of teaching have to be tailored to each student. For every lesson I develop a lesson plan that organizes the lesson so there is no time wasted. As I get to know the student more, I develop a lesson plan specific to the student and work on the things that need work but as well as to keep the student motivated by performing and memorizing.
