I teach from a flexible curriculum depending on the student's goals and interests. If someone wants to learn technique, music theory, songwriting, how to play Taylor Swift songs, arranging, composing, confidence, et cetera we will work on what is driving them to take lessons and learn! If the student is younger I will provide them with an organized syllabus and “fun” damentals! If they are older, I will help them find a way to stick with the music and accomplish their goals. Like I said, every lesson is specific to the student. I don't use a "method" on all my students. I can teach classical music and technicality, to jazz songs and improvisation, to songwriting and pop/folk oriented style of playing. I love tailoring each lesson to each individual student I teach. It is important to me that my students are interested in the material that they are learning. I enjoy helping my students reach their musical goals by selecting repertoires that appeal to them while also helping to address and resolve their technical deficiencies. For my beginning piano students, I typically start with Faber's Piano Adventures. For young singers, I use the Kodaly Method as a way of developing musical skills and teaching musical concepts. I consider myself mainly a jazz/cabaret singer, but I sing in many styles and genres. I also write my own music. I am working on my third album. I am very proud to say that my music has been played on radio stations throughout the U.S., Canada, South Africa, Australia, and Russia, and worldwide through the Siriusly Sinatra channel on SiriusXM radio. In my classes even exercises are fun, interesting and stimulating; they're not just some boring tasks, but rather something that the student is actively interested in practicing and learning.
