In the first lessons with beginning students I always try to focus in having a good time doing music and not geting frustrated quickly. Music is not an esay thing when we start to learning it and for sure that students are going to have difficulties at the beginning. But, if they are conected with the enjoyment, they are going to overcome obstacles more easily. For advanced students, I divide the lesson in two parts: technique on the instrument and repertorire. I focus on making sure student is comfortable and not lost at any point . Realistic expectations are important and we will assess these case by case. Music is my life and I don't know what I'd do if it wasn't teaching. I do private lessons both in person and online. I have students of all ages, 5 - 45. I've been doing this for seven years. I specialize in practice techniques and NYSSMA prep. It's funny I don't believe in bad music. Beauty is in the eye (or in this case the ear) of the beholder. There are many ways to love music, and there are just as many ways to learns music. Read More
