I have been teaching trumpet, improvisation and theory for ten years and have worked with students from beginner to professional level. I have taught private students, clinics, summer workshops and full band classes. I have worked with the Juilliard Outreach Program, Yamaha Canada, the Sterling Hall School and Roy Thompson Hall's 'Save the Music' program. The best lesson I learned before attending college, my trumpet teacher taught me, "If you sound good while practicing, you're not really practicing", which I make sure to mention multiple times. I never try to overload my students with too much material, but instead try to understand what they would like to learn, and develop lessons and exercises from that. While in school, I had the opportunity to student teach at LaGuardia High School. I loved working with the students there. I worked with students in private lessons as well as in choirs. In our lessons, we will discover overall musical goals and then weekly goals to help us achieve our dreams. Mr. Mendel was my model for teaching piano as I use his method for teaching, and as such I have been teaching piano ever since at my home.
