BA, Brookyn College, Music
I am an energetic and patient teacher. I love watching my students improve from week to week. I have a BA in music from Brooklyn College and have also studied privately with several different vocal and guitar instructors over the years, because I believe there is always more to learn! I've been a full time professional musician and instructor since graduating college. I have performed in many different musical situations and bring that experience into my teaching studio. I have performed in large capacity venues, on TV, and radio. My love of performing is only matched by my love of teaching.
I have had over 20 years of teaching experience in voice and guitar. In addition to my private teaching practice, I've taught at The Little Red School House in Manhattan as well as the Groove Academy in Edison, NJ. Although I have had the opportunity to teach to classes in the past, I much prefer one on one teaching. I feel that the student gains so much more by individualized lessons and can improve so much more quickly. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my students easily sing or play something that they initially felt was impossible for them to do!
I typically create individualized plans for my vocal students, depending on their level. I focus on technique and ease of singing with proper breathing for support. I do visualization techniques to help achieve an increased range without strain. I incorporate music the student is interested in to maintain their interest and love of music. I choose pieces of music that are appropriate for their level, yet challenging enough to keep them always improving. With my guitar students, I start with proper technique of holding the guitar and pick. I then teach the names of notes and strings. I use the Alfred book to help my students to learn how to read. I also teach songs the student is interested in learning to keep them excited about music.
Every student is different, so my approach to each student is tailored to their goals. Young students need more guidance than older students and are encouraged to broaden their musical tastes and explore what will ignite their musical imaginations. Some of my students are working toward auditions such as The Voice and we focus on song choice, technique and performance. I teach every one of my students as though they were my only student. I encourage my students and rejoice in all of their achievements!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
