Instruments: Voice
My teaching style is friendly, honest, and positive. I teach students how/what to practice and aid them on their musical journey at whatever starting place they may be. At the first lesson I begin teaching them how to develop an awareness for the concepts/tools we are exploring, so that they can continue growing in their practice at home during the week. I will always be honest with how a student is progressing, and I will also always be encouraging and positive. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Voice
Utilizing the philosophy of experiential education, I encourage my students to explore music through their own personal experiences. Understanding the experience we have with music in our everyday lives, allows us to personally connect with the music and sounds that speak to us, while aslo nurturing creativity and curiousity within our instrument. My purpose is to not only teach the technical aspects of the instrument but also develop a deeper and more personal connection to music. Read More
Instruments: Double Bass
I'm an enthusiastic instructor always seeking to discover what makes my students develop a personal connection to bass technique, which will further their love for making music. Jazz has always been my first love, although it was classical music that got me to play the double bass. In 2015 I graduated with a Master of Music degree in Double Bass Performance, at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles. As a classically trained bassist I've performed with Gustavo Dudamel, Valery Gergiev, Yuja Wang, the San Diego Symphony and many more! Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I tailor to the desire/ ability level of each student accordingly. Depending on how hard a student is willing to work, I conduct the lessons in an appropriate matter. I learn what the student loves about music and try to work from there so that the experience is meaningful, advantageous, and fun. Sharing music with others is incredibly important to me as a person. Music can bring people a sense of accomplishment and joy for the rest of their lives, that can become a truly valuable part of themselves and their future. Read More
Instruments: Piano Music Keyboard
I am a multifaceted musician with busy career as a conductor, arranger, pianist, and teaching artist. I call myself an artrepreneur. I founded my own orchestra called Ensemble 212 in New York and we have received critical acclaim for our innovative programming of works by living composers, exciting interpretations of the standard repertoire, and my own arrangements and transcriptions. I have also guest conducted numerous ensembles in Europe and North America and my arrangements and transcriptions have been performed throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America by leading orchestras such as the Baltimore, Phoenix and Singapore Symphony Orchestras. Instruments: Saxophone
For young learners and adult beginners who are interested in reading music, I usually use Eugene Rosseau's Saxophone Methods, while incorporating level-appropriate pieces along the way. One of my favorite skills to cultivate is transcription, so I will both transcribe into written form music requested by students, and guide students in learning music by ear themselves. In general, I work from custom lessons plans informed by my experience with the typical progression of students; Read More
