ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:

WPUNJ, BA in Music Studies, Minor in Music Management, Cum Laude

Overview:
I studied music at WPUNJ with a focus on music theory as well as the business side of the music industry.  I began teaching in 2006, and it continues to be a wonderful journey.  I enjoy inspiring, motivating, and encouraging each student to become acquainted with the instrument so he or she can become more thoroughly skilled. I'm skilled at piano and electronic synthesizers, in which I can teach Classical or Contemporary music. I'm a Bass/Baritone in vocal range, with a strong falsetto as well. I can teach acoustic guitar or electric guitar, Classical, Jazz, or Contemporary, depending on the style one wants to pursue.
EXPERIENCE
I've had over 17 years of teaching experience in guitar for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students, 9 years of teaching experience in piano for beginners and intermediate students, and 4 years of teaching experience inBass guitar for beginner students.  I demonstrate technique of performing, lend tips on how to correct mistakes, and show how to further their experience while developing his or her own style.  I'm very encouraging, always emphasizing a positive and productive approach to learning.  I like to guide each student into the directions and styles that he or she wants to learn, while allowing them to set reasonable and realistic goals.  Overall, the enjoyment of teaching and having other students learn, achieve, and accomplish their goals on their instrument is what makes it all worthwhile.
METHODS USED
I teach out of instructional books, notably books by Hal Leonard, Mel Bay, and Alfred. Sometimes, I use sheet music print outs, and draft up my own exercises.  I go back in forth in a non-conventional manner, adapting accordingly to the student's needs.  I like to incorporate exercises and warm ups to improve and enchance technique.  I also teach songs that the student would like to learn.  I'm very patient and rarely rigid in my approach, although I do stick to a general routine that allows a focused approach to learning. Enjoying oneself while learning along the way makes it all run smoothly, and makes it a fun challenge to learn.
LESSON STYLE
I'm fairly flexible, laid back in my teaching style, and always passionate about helping those who need it.  I always try to keep each student learning at least one new thing for each lesson, while allowing him or her to make steady and consistent progress without getting stuck in a rut.  I always encourage steady and consistent practice throughout the week to further individual progress and get closer to desired results.  My motto is "you get out of what you put into it" while remaining positive and encouraging throughout each lesson.

Robert has been teaching both of my kids on the keyboard, and they both really have enjoyed their lessons with him so far. My daughter is younger, and he has seemed to adapt the material to her age, compared to my son.

Known this guy for close to 7 years and he is one of the best musicians I've ever seen perform live. Great teacher, patient and knows the ins and outs of almost every guitar he picks up.
