I think voice especially has always been viewed as a bit of a mystery... you can't see or touch your voice as you sing, unlike playing instruments, so there's a certain amount of imagination that has to be involved. I do my best to straddle making singing as tangible as I can, and approach things somewhat scientifically ("This muscle is used in this way," etc.) while also inspiring visualization ("Send your sound out into the distance," etc.) I also really think it's important for musicians to be diverse, so not only will we learn chord and strumming patterns on a guitar, we'll also learn how to read simple lead lines of solos, etc. Read More

I have been teaching since before I even went to college. My teaching experience, professionally, began in 2018. In 2019, I began college at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for vocal music. After that, I went on to teach more voice lessons, and added on piano, ukulele, guitar, and even theatre. Currently, I am an elementary music teacher in the Bronx and East Harlem. Music is a great art form to express emotion and passion for something we cannot say in words. In church, I teach the choir to express their feelings of joyfulness when praising God. Outside church, I've taught privately in piano and voice for twelve years, five with Musika. I always encourge my students to practice with patience daily for 15-20 minutes in order to successfully progress. Most importantly, they must have fun, smile and play/sing with excitement.
