My high school choir director asked me if I would like to start helping out high school students with providing voice lessons, and of course, I said yes. Some students need explicit instruction and to be pushed, others need gentle guidance with time and space to work things out for themselves. Singing lessons should always be fun and positive. A student should come out of a voice lesson with new knowledge that they can then go and apply during their practice at home. I am a firm believer that most of the learning is done outside the lesson through the student's application of what he/she learned during the lesson.
