I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 1992, I graduated from Baruch (CUNY) with a degree in Applied Music. I have performed in Nashville and in New York City which has been one of my greater experiences as a musician, and I have had the opportunity to play at Jazz and Country Western clubs. I also am part of the September Concert Event every year for the past 9 years performing with my students and holding a tribute with The Loupakis Gymnastics from Astoria in Athens Square Park. What I love about teaching is that each student is unique and has different types of abilities and motivations to study music. Music is a joy, but in order to get the most out of the experience of playing an instrument, there is some work involved. My style is to work on manageable goals that build a strong musical foundation, while maintaining focus on the joy that inspired the student to study in the first place. Read More

Ideally, I prefer to work with younger children because it is at this stage in life that they are most musically receptive; I believe it is important for a budding musician to love their craft and - regardless of age, technical skill can only take one so far in the arts. I have seen far too many musicians abandon their gift for the mundane, due to distorted visions of incompetence and unwarranted deceptions of grandeur. Read More

All levels of voice are welcome in my studio! For beginners I generally begin with giving the basics of how the voice functions and focus on breathing for singing. Then we ease into vocal exercises. After the first few lessons we move on to singing a simple song. I encourage the student to bring in music they like and would like to sing. I begin teaching every student with the same vocal exercises to strengthen the voice and then we discuss different styles and how the voice can change stylistically but not technically. Read More

Ive been teaching voice for over 5 years. My students ages range from 10 to 80 and they are In different levels and have different goals/interests. Although Im classically trained and I have many students following a classical path, using the bel canto technique, Im able to provide the student with tools to sing any genre, and for that I use a Cross Training technique, which embraces classical and vernacular styles, such as pop, rock, musical theater, Brazilian music (like samba and bossa nova). I began teaching in high school due to me being the student director of the choir and my choir director knowing my background vocally, encouraged me to help some of the incoming students and choir hopefuls. By the end of my junior year of high school, I was giving private lessons 5 times a week and directed some pieces during competitions. While attending college, I was gathered to coach some of the other musical theatre students in music theory and in musical theatre performance. Read More

In addition to my training as a vocalist, I've studied vocal pedagogy in New York City under the instruction of Justin Stoney. I've been teaching for a little over 6 years, working with students of all levels ranging from beginners to Broadway professionals. Regardless of experience, I encourage all of my students to explore a wide range of material and to experiment with the diversity of their voice. You shouldn't be afraid to tackle pop music, nor should you be afraid to tackle an aria. Read More
