These sentences can be adapted to any instrument. When the student repeats the sequence they will strengthen the whole chest and throat area. After which they can take the sequence over again or move higher to go to the next section. I realize children are different so I might arrange the tables based on levels and give out several scores to help the students feel uninhibited with group support. Founded with love through music! I have been teaching private lessons since 2015, my freshman year in college. During that time, I have had students from a variety of ages, backgrounds, and levels of proficiency. My first teaching influence was my mom, who was a high school orchestra director and continues to teach strings to elementary school students part-time today. I have also been blessed to study with some truly amazing private instructors at IU's tremendous music school, namely Luke Gillespie (jazz piano), Fred Hammond (classical piano), Walter Smith III (improvisation), Steve Houghton (improvisation), and more. Getting to know the goals, musical tastes, and learning style of each of my students is the first step in creating a productive student/teacher relationship. I try to create lessons that blend my student's personal goals and interests with a strong foundation and understanding of the language of music. I want my students to have the knowledge and tools to discover all the possibilities that music has to offer. Read More

Adult students can opt to go to the next book in the series (Book II and III of the 'modern' piano course). For String students I am comfortable in the 'Essential Elements' series, 'String Builder' series and 'All for Strings' methods as an excellent base with which to start. For Guitar Students I am a fan of 'Alfred's Basic Guitar Method' Books 1-3. For Bass guitar students I prefer 'Mel Bay's Bass Guitar Method. Read More

Students have to listen to the sound they are making - whether these are scales or the repertoire. They will become great pianists if their concentration is great. There is no miracle in piano playing. it is a precise and exact art much like carving. All students know - "we have to practice." That is easy - anybody can practice. Laziness is not a problem any more. Lack of interest, however, can be a huge problem, and it arises because students do not know HOW to practice. Read More

I have been teaching music since age 15. Over the year I discovered that I enjoy the excitment of watching students grow and develop. I believe that a great teacher need to have three assets: 1. Know the material. 2. Know how to talk about the material 3. Be a good person. I believe I have all 3. All ages , levels and styles are welcome, beauty in music can be found in a Mozart sonata and in a delta Bloes and in an Adel song and in a Fun track. Read More

I began teaching in 2012 when I was awarded the Graduate Assistant position at Western Michigan University. As a G.A., I was responsible for teaching non-music majors saxophone lessons, theory and ear-training, as well as coaching ensembles. I also taught flute and clarinet at Paramount Charter Academy in Kalamazoo, Michigan to middle school students. It was a very rewarding experience to teach people of various ages, ability levels, and goals, and allowed me to refine my teaching methods based on the needs of each student. I currently teach music theory, piano, saxophone, clarinet, flute, drums, and composition at Belle Arti Center for the Performing Arts in Queens, NY. Read More
