I began teaching private lessons in high school. I would have middle schoolers meet me at the high school and teach from there. I fell in love with teaching at that point. When meeting a student, I want to find their "currency". Meaning, I want to find what makes them want to work and practice. There is nothing more rewarding than working for a goal and accomplishing it. I like finding music that my student wants to learn and making a music theory lesson that compliments the instrument lesson. I would ideally like my job with my students to be temporary. What I mean by that is to fill them up with all the knowledge and skills that they will be able to pick up their instrument(s) and sight read a piece or learn a piece without my help. Read More
